i have a 1999 Ranger XLT four cylinder with about 13,400 miles on it. Being
im kind of a big guy this cab is a little small for me, but Im making due ok.
My question is it seems that every once i n a while the wipers for no reason
will do a sweep across the windshield. the thing is I dont think im hitting
the switch when this happens ( sometimes my knee is bent up and could come
into contact with the switch) but I dont feel myself hitting the switch . My
question to you guys is has anyone else experienced this problem or heard
of this happening before?

The feature may seem to be obnoxious, but it is quite important for the
purpose at hand.

By running air through the AC's evaporator it becomes drier and therefore
much more useful for defogging the windshield. AFAIK, when the temperature
drops close to the freezing mark, the AC should not turn itself on
automatically. Therefore I am a bit confused by your usage of the term
defrost.

If the Ranger uses the GEM module like the explorer does, the GEM is bad...

Dear Listees,

My 93 4x4 explorer with 120K just had the
brakes worked by what I consider
to be a reputable shop here in Atlanta-Front rotors replaced front pads and
rear shoes. Before it went in the ABS light would come on periodically and
then go off which is has done for years. When it would come on and stay I
would take it by the shop and they would adjust the sensors or replace them
and all would appear to be well. This time after getting it back from the
shop the ABS will come on and stay after the car gets heated up. It will
cycle through and click off whenever I first start it in the morning but
after driving it about 30 miles or so and I stop and get out for awhile the
light stays on. I took the car back to the shop this morning and they call
me and tell the float is sticking in the master cylinder which is causing
the light to stay on and I need to replace the master cylinder. I am
having a hard time making the connection with the car getting warmed up,
the repair work and why it was not coming on and staying on before the
work. The other thing that is kinda bothering me after a couple of quick
stops before the rebuild it was not clear to me that the ABS was doing its

thing. I was getting some skidding which I had not experienced before.

I would appreciate your ideas.

Dale

Wow! After reading all of this stuff, I think a WHOLE lot differently about my
noisy old 5 speed in the 170,000 mile bronco 2.
