Ford OBDII Diagnostic Trouble Codes - Overview

OBDII Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC's) are used by Ford and other manufacturers to provide information about the operation of the vehicle and diagnose/identify problems.

There are four basic code categories (click for details):

  • P - powertrain
  • C - chassis
  • B - body
  • U - future diagnotic systems

    Power Train Codes

    P0100-P0199 - Fuel and Air Metering
    P0200-P0299 - Fuel and Air Metering, Injector Circuit
    P0300-P0399 - Ignition System or Misfire
    P0400-P0499 - Auxiliary Emissions Controls
    P0500-P0599 - Speed Controls and Idle Control System
    P0600-P0699 - Computer Output Circuit
    P0700-P0799 - Transmission
    P0800-P0899 - Additional Transmission
    P1000-P1999 - Codes Specific to Ford vehicles

    C0000-C0999 - Chassis

    U0000-U0999 - Network Codes
